Kittivisian Life Launched
Kittivisian Life, the Federation’s first online and hard copy Lifestyle magazine was launched on Wed 21st March 2007.This innovative concept is a product of The IT Facility, in its continuing efforts to showcase positive aspects of life in the Federation.
The magazine, which is also available free in hard copy format, is widely available from the several key outlets in St Kitts and Nevis including supermarkets, petrol stations, banks and the post office in Basseterre and Charlestown.
The purpose of the magazine is to bring to the people of the Federation at home and abroad, information that would enhance their well being in an easily accessible format. To showcase the best of what is happening in the Federation to the global community of Kittisians and Nevisians as well as to regional and worldwide audiences. We are also keen to create a Business Ecosystem or Network, where several businesses work together to facilitate customer needs, share ideas, and develop products and services. In so doing generate employment in the Federation through developing the skills of the people.
The magazine, covers topics on business, personal finance, information technology, self-development, health, home and garden, beauty, a heritage slot and a children’s section.
Readers can send in letters and emails on topics they might like to see in the magazine, and from time to time we will run competitions for poets, writers and artists to showcase their talents.
We believe strongly in the principles of ‘each one teaches one’ and Kittivisian Life is a collaboration of businesses working together for mutual benefit.

Graduate
of The IT Facility wins Regional Competition
Basseterre
St Kitts, 6 December 2006
Chaneé Bridgewater of St. Kitts recently gained her ICDL certification and was
asked to submit a short testimonial to the regional
ICDL Candidate Competition.
Her submission was chosen to represent the Caribbean Region and will be sent
to the ECDL Foundation in Ireland where it will compete
in the worldwide contest.
Chaneé’s mother accepted
a plaque and cheque for US$275 on behalf of her daughter
who presently studying in the US.
Russell Williams of The
IT Facility noted that Chaneé has proved that having
ICDL certification has its rewards. Not only was she
able to be more effective in her job, but has been
able to put those skills to use as she further her
studies. Winning the competition and the prize-money
I’m sure is icing on the cake for Chaneé and would
be useful at this time. The competition is held annually,
and we would be looking for candidates for 2007.

The
IT Facility to Pilot Online Learning for Children
Basseterre St Kitts,
16 August 2006, The IT Facility to Pilot Online
Learning for Children
The IT Facility is to launch a pilot computer based learning project, for children
in Maths and English. The aim is to develop children’s
ability in critical thinking, analytical, problem solving
and decision-making skills.
The month long Pilot Project
would target children of the Federation who will be
entering grade 6 this year (i.e. those between 11&12 years of age.) We believe that this age group would best demonstrate what
is achievable with this programme in the time allowed.
However, there are just 50 places, and these will be
allocated on a 1st come 1st served basis.
Participants must have
access to a computer with high speed internet. They
must be willing to commit to minimum of 3 hrs additional
study per week, and ½ hr attendance for face-to-face
contact weekly.
As the content is online,
students can access the learning material any day of
the week at times convenient to their other commitments.
We also believe that the content is more engaging and
interactive for the students, with online tutor support
to assist those children who need additional help.
Persons interested to
register their children for the Pilot Project should
contact The IT Facility either by telephone on 466-7025
or email: training@theitfacility.com or via the website
at: www.theitfacility.com
Basseterre, St. Kitts 21st July 2006. AVEC chooses
the ICDL and The IT Facility.
The Advanced Vocational Educational Centre (AVEC) has chosen to enroll a number
of Lecturers in the International Computer Drivers
License (ICDL) programme at The IT Facility.
Director of AVEC Mr. Malcolm
Knight said, having reviewed the growing demands of
the private sector and the ICDL syllabus we decided
that ICDL Certification would enhance the skills of
our staff in key areas.
Russell Williams, Managing
Director of The IT Facility, remarked that, “over the
last four years, we have been working to bring partners
on board to deliver ICDL to the Federation. AVEC’s
decision to adopt the ICDL benefits not only to their
institution but also to the Federation, as we work
together to bring international IT Certification to
a wider audience.”
“Last year the St. Kitts-Nevis
Chamber of Industry and Commerce became the first chamber
in the CARICOM region to endorse the ICDL as a programme
offering many benefits to the private sector. It was,
therefore, only a matter of time before progressive
institutions such as AVEC came on board, to satisfy
the demands of the private sector.” Williams stated.
For more information on
the ICDL programme please call either The IT Facility
at 466-7025, e-mail training@theitfacility.com or visit
